Concept
-
Our concept was inspired by the elegant cafés and sweet shops of Buenos Aires of the early XX century.
Design Proposal
-
Budget and timeframe were the most limiting parameters for our design. In response, we proposed a set design that mostly adapted to the existing layout.
-
Columns, beams and mouldings were constructed out of economic materials like PVC and lightweight metal to give some volume to the space.
-
Wallpaper and mouldings were recreated and handpainted by artist Edwin Guevárez.
-
A period-fitting new stair guardrail is made up of economic ornamental cast iron shapes.
-
The selection of colors burgundy and gold help instill drama and elegance to the design.
-
The selection of luminaries, period furniture, and a collage of framed old images of Buenos Aires help complete the illusion.
